A credit card-sized 'skills passport', valid in the majority of cases for five years, is issued to all individuals registered with the scheme.

A primary requirement to acheiving a SKILLCard registration entails meeting a minimum level of awareness of Health & Safety in the workplace.

In addition, the holder will need to have proven their capability within their chosen trade be that through NVQ/SVQ qualification, recognised apprenticeship scheme or extensive trade experience.
